Privacy policy
Who we are
PAUSE is made and run by Vivian Ibe, an individual developer based in Lagos, Nigeria (“we”). For anything about your data, email support@pausehabits.app.
What PAUSE is
A self-reflection app for taking breaks from habits. It is not a medical service.
Data we handle
As a guest: everything is stored only on your device. We receive nothing.
With an account:
- Account details: your email address and sign-in identifiers. Your password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
- What you create: your Pauses (names, rules, goals, start times), check-ins, slips and breaks, craving moments you choose to save (trigger, intensity, the exercise you tried, an optional note), reflections, rewards, your companion and app preferences, reminder settings and time zone.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers or usage analytics.
Some of what you record, such as a Pause about alcohol or smoking or a reflection, may say something about your health or habits. We process it only to provide the app to you, with your consent, which you give by choosing to record it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting the content or your account.
Why we use it
To run the app, sync it across your devices, keep your account secure, and answer support requests. Nothing else.
Who helps us run PAUSE
- Supabase hosts the database and sign-in. Data is stored in the European Union (Stockholm, Sweden).
- Expo delivers app updates to your phone. It does not receive your Pauses or journal.
- Google and Apple distribute the app. Reminders are scheduled on your phone itself.
Each provider only processes data to provide its service to us.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or your account. In the app, go to Profile → Privacy & your data → Delete my account: your account and all its records are removed from our database straight away. Our hosting provider may keep encrypted backups for a short period before they are overwritten. You can also ask us to delete your account by email.
Your rights
You can access and export your data (Profile → Privacy & your data → Export), correct it, delete it, or object to how it’s used. Email us for anything else. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Database rules make sure each person can only ever read their own records. Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone’s secure storage.
Age
PAUSE is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its date, and let you know in the app about anything important.
